Acne vulgaris is a common disease characterized by 3 pathophysiologic processes: Presence of bacteria and subsequent inflammation, excess sebum production, excess keratinization. Recently, the involvement of the epidermal barrier has been emphasized.
Integration of skin barrier repair, represent a relevant strategy as a holistic approach in the management of acne. It may reduce the frequency and intensity of anti-acne-specific treatment side effects, improving patient adherence to drug treatment, and consequently, better clinical outcome.
